serious decision making in process

I love hot dogs. I know they’re not healthy for you, because of all the mystery/left over meat they contain…but I still lov’em. I remember having to make deals with Lon, begging and pleading to be allowed to eat only ‘one’ hot dog a month while I was pregnant both times:P Did I break the agreement at times? YoouuU betcha!! If you’re preggers, the nitrates in those lil’ dogs aren’t healthy for baby if eaten too much. I tried those tofu ones but they’re just gross. Recently, I found a company that makes some tasty hot dogs withOUT nitrates at a baby show convention. I literally said to them, “Where were you when I was pregnant!?!”

During our recent Vancouver family trip, Lon wanted to check out the Japadog hype. I was quite surprised that HE initiated this idea instead of me. It just so happened that the Food Network crew were doing some taping that very afternoon for their Eat Street segment coming up next spring. As Lon was being taped, I had to document it. Later, the crew dragged me in as well to give my opinion on the Japadog. Lon and I both found it very difficult to really enjoy & taste it while being taped and having to answer questions. I still wonder why I wasn’t all over the Japadog experience. I guess it’s because food tastes better when I’m NOT allowed to have it.

Who would have thought that apple picking would be such a huge family event? Well, it is. I personally have very blurry, yet fond childhood memories of picking apples with my own family. On a beautiful Monday afternoon, my friends, the Wong family ventured out to Chudleigh’s Apple Farm for a taste test + family shoot adventure. I was amazed at how busy it was! Honestly, I was quite surprised that there were STILL apples on the trees! Cayden and Matayah are 2 amazing kids. Matayah’s eyes just make me melt, plus they also allow her to get her way…from daddy. Cayden is super smart yet he loves being silly. Nap & Wendy are one of the most generous couples I know. It was so much fun taking shots of the Wongs…the only challenging part was having my daughter Stellar periodically walking through the frame and testing my focusing skills by using me as a human play scape. Note to self: leave home without her.

Stellar had her first mini e-session(e for engagement) in Vancouver. For those of you who know Stellar, these pictures might shock you. I must admit that I was a little taken back myself. Normally, she needs A LOT of time to warm up to anybody, especially boys. I guess all it takes to break her comfort level is a 10 day sleep over. A couple of months ago, our family went on yet another maternity leave vacay–believe me, I’m soaking up every last drop of this ‘free time’. We stayed over at lil’ Caleb’s house and had a blast! The trip began with the usual awkwardness: “…am I supposed to remember you??” By the end of the 2nd day, Stellar and Caleb were best buds. Their relationship was just like any other, episodes of break-ups, make-ups and awesome wrestling matches. What lies ahead in the future? Just like most long distance relationships: out of sight, out of mind.

In the mail today, Lon received his new heavy duty iphone4 case. I saw a glitter in his eye when I told him that it had arrived. That glitter that was once only reserved for me. Ever since he first got his iphone4, I’ve been spending more time talking to the top of his head than having direct eye contact. Once in a while, I would quickly ask him ‘who do you love more?’—just to see if he would slip up. He even hugged a complete male stranger the very moment he thought he was going to lay his hands on his new love. What were the red flags? Maybe the way he would freak out the moment he didn’t know the whereabouts of his phone, or maybe the way he used the house central vacuum system to suck out the dust from his new case because he insisted that the dust would one day crack the screen. I on the other hand, heard the vacuum sounds and was literally thinking this: “wow, he’s actually vacuuming the basement carpet with an injured back so I won’t have to do it later..strange but …wow.” I have been officially replaced and demoted to wife #2. Is there an App that can replace my husband?
